The age old myth is that Linux does not require antivirus software. You should be running an antivirus software on your Linux system. Recently there have been several viruses (example 1 and example 2) that are targeting Linux.

You might be thinking okay, I'll go download and install Norton or McAfee or another popular antivirus software. A lot of popular vendors do not support a virus checked for Linux. I highly recommend using clamav as this is a free and opensource virus checker that you can esily install and run in MX Linux.
